It is always debatable to choose a feature rich tablet or go for a renowned brand. In our latest feature, GizBot compares two tablets by studying their specifications.

The first contender is a brand called Swipe telecom; a US based Tech Company having expertise in selling tablets and smartphones. And our next contender is a subtle brand - Asus. There is no need to introduce Asus, known for Eee PC and Nexus 7 tablet. This Taiwan based tech giant has successfully announced tablet devices, notebooks and motherboard to be precise.

Swipe Telecom recently announced MTV Slash. The tech vendor has partnered with youth channel - MTV. Under the agreement, Swipe offers tablets and smartphones. The MTV Swipe Slash tablet is aimed at youth and the price is just right - Rs. 9,499.
Few months back, Asus Corporation launched FonePad, a 3G voice calling tablet, priced at Rs. 15,999. It has a 7-inch WXGA IPS display having resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The internal specifications are solid and build quality is exceptional.

Display

The Asus manufactured FonePad comes with a 7-inch WXGA IPS display with resolution of 1280 X 800 pixels. In comparison to the Swipe MTV Slash, the latter tablet device packs a 7-inch display with resolution of 1024 X 600 pixels. FonePad is far better than Swipe MTV Slash due to better display.

Processor, RAM and OS

Asus FonePad runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean mobile OS and is powered by 1.2-GHz Intel Atom single core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM, while the Swipe MTV Slash tablet is powered by 1GHZ dual-core processor and running on Android 4.1 Jelly bean. The RAM stands at 1GB. Intel Atom chip boost battery life. So the verdict is out.

Camera

The Asus FonePad comes fitted with a 3-mega pixel rear camera, and 1.2-mega pixel front facing camera. On the other hand, the Swipe MTV Slash tablet packs a 5-mega pixel rear facing camera along with front facing VGA camera.

Battery

The Asus FonePad comes with 4,270mAh battery fitted inside. Asus claims that the device can be easily run up to 9 hours on a single charge. The Swipe MTV Slash tablet flaunts 3,000mAh Li Ion battery.

Storage

You can expand Asus manufactured FonePad. The tablet comes in 16GB/32GB version .On the other hand, the Swipe MTV Slash comes with 4GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded via microSD card.

Miscellaneous, price, availability and goodies
The Asus FonePad supports 3G and can be used as mobile phone. Being manufactured by Asus, the build quality is supreme and this Intel powered device is affordable at Rs. 15,999. Talking about the Swipe MTV Slash, it does come with 3G voice calling. At Rs. 9,490, MTV Slash is cheap; its build quality and performance is not known.

Both tablets have more or less same connectivity options: 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and A-GPS. The Swipe manufactured tablet comes with pre-bundled MTV apps.
