It's no secret that China's Xiaomi is prepping a sequel to the Mi4. In fact, Xiaomi's president Lei Jun recently confirmed that they will unveil the next-generation device in January 2015.
And while the company slowly builds its smartphone empire, it's being reported that Xiaomi could soon unravel a notebook computer. Well, it looks like the tech giant is indeed preparing to launch a new laptop device in the coming days.
In the latest in a long run of Xiaomi leaks, new photos have emerged that allegedly show the 15-inch FHD laptop which has a charismatic design similar to that of Apple's MacBook Air.
The images, which cannot be verified independently, are certainly more convincing. It shows the laptop sporting a thin profile, while other features are similar to a regular laptop computer.
"The device looks exactly like Apple's Macbook Air except for the logo on the front and the back. Below the display is the bright orange ‘MI' branding and at the back too there is a silver ‘MI' logo. The laptop also features a special orange colored function button that can take custom functions from the user", notes GizmoChina.
According to the unconfirmed report, the notebook will purportedly feature an Intel-powered Haswell i7-4500U processor coupled with 16GB RAM.
Apparently, the device may not use Windows operating system (OS). Instead, it could use its own custom operating system (OS) based on a variant of Linux. As far as the retail price is concerned, the laptop computer could cost a mere 2999 Yuan or Rs. 30,724.
It seems that Xiaomi is working hard to be become a multinational company. If they don't offer a diverse product line, they are temporarily loosing several opportunities in the other parts of the world.
