Samsung recently launched the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphone in India. However, it seems that there is a new Galaxy Tab for India in the making, but shall we call it new? Well, that's a matter of debate, as the Tab referred to here appears to be an enhanced version of the two-year-old Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite.
A new device with a model number of SM-T116IR has recently been spotted on Zauba India website. For those unaware Zuaba is a website that tracks import and exports happening in our country and is often than not a vital source of information for impending launches.
Apart from that a tablet touting a similar model no was seen clearing GFXBench a few days. Incidentally, the benchmark listing provides vital details regarding the upcoming tablet. Here's all that is known so far.
Old school 7-inch display
Well, there are two reasons to refer to the display as old school. Ever since the inception of tablets anything with a display of 7 inch and above was placed in this category. In fact, most of the tablet launched two years back came with a similar display size. However, the manufacturer is now a days incorporating more display real estate onto their device, with the 7.9 inch being the most popular size.
The all new Samsung Tab thus falls in those old school 7 inch categories with a resolution that is more so historic (well prehistoric!) According the GFXBench listing the enhanced Samsung Tab 3 Lite comes with a resolution of 1024x600p.
An Improved Snapdragon chip
The alleged Samsung Tab 3 Lite Enhanced version comes with an improved chip which is not only more powerful but also supports the latest 64-bit processing capabilities. It features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC which four cores clocked at 1.2GHz each. This is coupled with an Adreno 306 GPU.
More RAM but same Memory
The SM- T116IR sports a similar 8GB of internal storage as its previous version. However, it has a greater amount of RAM at 1.5GB in place of the 1GB found in the predecessor. The new tablet is also expected to come with a MicroSD card slot.
Now with a Selfie Cam
Unlike the original Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite, the enhanced version comes with a front facing selfie camera. The benchmark listing show that the tablet features a 2MP camera on the front.
More pixels on the Rear
Samsung has also improved on the rear camera of the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite. The GFX Bench listing show that the all new device sports a 5MP camera as compared to the 3.2MP module found in the predecessor.
As opposed to the Tab 3 Lite which still runs on the dated Android KitKat, the all new enhanced edition was spotted running Android Lollipop 5.1.1 while being benchmarked at GFX Bench.
