Ever Since the acquisition of Nokia by Microsoft, it has cancelled several devices that were under development. A device that was supposedly cancelled has made its appearance online. The device is the Microsoft Mercury. The images were leaked by one Twitter user who is familiar with the development.
The Microsoft Mercury was supposedly a cancelled tablet that would run Windows 8.1 or newer and a design very similar to older Lumia phones at the time. It resembles the earlier Lumia phones, has a SIM card slot, 3G or LTE capable in the non-Wifi variant.
The display size is unknown. The bezel is small and has a front facing camera. The rear camera has a camera above the Microsoft logo at the center. There are no details regarding the specifications of the device. Also, there is no idea if Microsoft is working on a new tablet or has dropped the idea entirely. The device seems to be a good platform that Microsoft can develop.
While Microsoft Surface are high end tablets, the Microsoft Mercury seems to be a more affordable one for general audiences. The Microsoft/Nokia Mercury is for regular use unlike the Surface tablet which is intended for Business users.
