In its eighth year now, India's Buzziest Brands is one of the oldest, uninterrupted public polls in the advertising and marketing space. It has been conducted every year, without a break. In doing so, it has managed to capture how the nature of buzz has changed.
For the uninitiated, buzz takes place when consumers voluntarily talk about brands and only few brands achieve this. Even when brands do create buzz, consumer interest does not last for long. This is one of the reasons for brands to constantly vanish from the list of India's Buzziest Brands.
It is important to note that though many names have come in this report since 2006, only 15 of them have managed to make their way into the list every year. This year, there is a significant difference in the India's Buzziest Brands list and it even shows the growth and penetration of tech. Afaqs has posted the ranking of India's Buzziest Brands of 2013.
So far, in the seven editions of the marketing survey, the top spot has been occupied by only two brands - Airtel in 2006-2009 and in 2012, that is for five times. The other two years the telco was pushed aside by the social networking firm Facebook. However, in the eight edition of the survey, Samsung has managed to topple the list of India's Buzziest Brands.

After seven long years, the South Korean tech manufacturer has made its way to the top position of the list. The Galaxy lineup of smartphones that became a huge success across world with over 100 million sales figure is the main reason to keep Samsung buzzing.
Facebook got in to the list of India's Buzziest Brands in 2009 and it has managed to be steady with No 1 position twice. Almost everyone loves to dislike Facebook, especially in media and hence, it has got enough coverage for keeping its position.
From the first position in 2012, Airtel has fallen to the third position this year. This has happened has its advertising has slumped and it has gradually lost ira way.
The search engine giant was included in India's Buzziest Brands in 2008 after a change in its methodology. Similar to Facebook, Google remains in news for its new aspects and has come into the fourth position this time.
Being an e-commerce site, Flipkart well known for its reputation has occupied the fifth position in the eighth edition of the market survey. The ability of Fipkart to delight its consumers is the main reason for the positive buzz of the brand.
Apple's iPhone has always been climbing up the buzz charts since it joined the list in 2011, after it became visible in India. But, in just a couple of years' time, the company has managed to occupy the No 6 position.
This video sharing brand of Google has seen several improvements and has been a part of many visitors. Though it dipped in 2011, it has sharply recovered in 2012 and has come to the 7th position this year.
Though BlackBerry has been talked about a lot by international tech and business sites, the brand has come into the Buzzies in India. The launch of BlackBerry 10 and smartphones based on it Z10 and Q10 has got a worldwide impact with several consumers buzzing on the same.
Vodafone, another telco has managed to come in to the Buzzies list to offer a tough rivalry to Airtel in the number 3 position. The telecom service provider has appeared in the top 10 after a couple of years.
Nokia, which may have almost lost its foothold on the smartphone arena has made its way with the Windows Phone based Lumia smartphones. The company was in the top positions in the initial years and now it has come to throw the excitement again.
The India based handset manufacturer involved in making low cost and performance oriented smartphones that are mainly for the price conscious consumers has also appeared in the eighth edition of Buzzies.
