Vodafone India today said it has invested Rs 750 crore in Tamil Nadu to upgrade its network and also conducting 4G trials in some circles.

The company has invested Rs 750 crore in Tamil Nadu and Chennai towards upgradation of network and distribution services, Vodafone India, Business Head-Tamil Nadu, S Murali told reporters here.

Speaking on 4G services, Vodafone India, Operations Director (South India) Suresh Kumar said, "At this point of time, 4G trials are going on in the areas where we have the spectrum.

We will be there at the right time." "During the latest auction, our priority was to renew our licences. We extended the 3G telecom services from nine circles to 16 also.

Ninety per cent investments were for network". He said the company has a total of 3,600 3G sites and 10,500 2G sites across Tamil Nadu.

Across the country, Vodafone India has 35,012 3G sites while the number of 2G sites is 1.30 lakh. According to him, the company has 1.43 crore subscriber base in the state and a retail network of 890.
