Reliance Jio Effect: Airtel, Vodafone and BSNL will Now Offer Combo Plans
Reliance Jio has created a major stir in the telecom sector of India and has significantly intensified the competition among the telecom operators and service providers.
After Reliance Jio was launched on September 5th, things in the Indian telecom sector have never been the same.
Moreover, when Mukesh Ambani announced that Jio would be the first network in India to provide free lifetime voice calls, it was a huge surprise for everyone. Significantly, it also meant that other network service providers were now threatened by the announcement.

As such after more than 80 days since Jio's launch, we have witnessed tariffs and data plans being slashed immensely, and that the telecom providers have been trying to outdo each other in order to retain and attract more customers.
However, the latest buzz is around Jio's free voice calling scheme. As you might already know, to make a voice call using a Jio sim, your mobile data should be turned on all the time. This actually means that, Jio's services are unified and integrated into a single plan. It also means that people do not have to recharge their phone separately as in pay for the internet then some tariff plan and then the recharge.

In fact with Jio's voice calling scheme which is now dubbed as 'Combo Plans', people will be offered all the services like voice calls, data and SMS with just a single recharge.
While this may be the case with Reliance Jio, other telecoms such as Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India, BSNL and others have also already shown their interest towards this combo plan scheme.

Earlier, Anupam Shrivastava, Chairman and Managing Director of BSNL while speaking to TOI said that the company was planning to also launch BSNL Free Voice Calls service from early 2017.
On the other hand, Vodafone India has already introduced a combo plan in the country and are calling it as 'Vodafone Flex'. It is basically a single recharge option for prepaid users, where users can use data and voice interchangeably on the same pack.
Furthermore, Bharti Airtel suggested that they have plans on adopting the combo plan scheme.
Besides, Aircel has also introduced the data-voice combo packs starting from Rs. 497, but they are only for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh users. While it has been informed that Aircel, Reliance Communications, and MTS will be reportedly launching a new brand in early 2017, we might simply guess that their first step would be on the combo plans as well.
Therefore, 2017, looks to be a great year for the Indian telecom sector and we can expect many changes to come. The good thing of 2016, Reliance Jio has certainly created a major shift in the telecom sector of India. As we all know, without them these new services would not have come into existence only.
