Reliance Jio, the new entrant in the telecom sector has recently announced that its 'Welcome Offer' will be extended until March 31, 2017. However, in order to comply with the rules and regulations of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) all the services offered under 'Welcome Offer' will now be moved to 'Happy New Year Offer' (of course, there are a few changes in the new plan which we will talk about later in this article).

Speaking of TRAI, it had announced that it will be examining the legality of the 'Happy New Year Offer' which offers free 4G data and voice calling among others.

Commenting on the same RS Sharma, TRAI's chairman said that, "we will look into it. Every tariff that is filed before us is examined. We will come up with our response at appropriate time."

Previously, TRAI had allowed Jio to continue offering the free services that come along with Welcome Offer until December 31 (for subscribers who have registered with the network before December 3).

Speaking of which, unlike the ‘Welcome Offer', the Happy New Year offer provides only 1GB free 4G data per day until March 31, 2017.

In case, you've reached the maximum data limit for a particular day, your data speed will be reduced to 128Kbps for that particular day (every time).

Keeping in mind the customers who need a better data speed even after reaching the FUP, Jio has introduced two new top-up vouchers.

The first voucher offers 1GB of data valid for 1 day if recharged with Rs. 51. On the other hand, the second voucher provides 6GB of data valid for 28 days on recharging with Rs. 301.
