Every user with a valid identity proof can get their own SIM card from the Reliance Digital stores. It is still unknown whether the company is issuing the SIM cards to all telecom stores or will it be only available in Reliance Digital stores. We will update you once we get any relevant information regarding this.
e-KYC Activation
You won't get a Jio SIM card that easily, as there will be huge queues at the stores with many people trying to get their hands on the SIM card. That said, like Airtel and Vodafone, Reliance will also activate the SIM cards using e-KYC process.
If you have your original Aadhar card with you, carry that with you and your Jio SIM will be activated within 15 minutes.
Reliance Jio Tariff Plans
Many were cherished that Reliance Jio won't cost for voice calls and the national roaming is free as well. The tariff plans will be starting from Rs. 149, where the users will be offered 300MB of data and unlimited night data as well. The last plan is of Rs. 4,999. All the Jio plans will give access to Jio's premium apps for free. And, the postpaid are similar to prepaid plans and costs the same with same offerings.
MNP
This question is circulating through many minds. Yes, you can port right away to Reliance Jio. The MNP service will also be active from September 5 and the ported users will also eligible for Jio's welcome offer until December 31. Read our guide in How to port to Reliance Jio.
Supported Phones
Reliance Jio will be the India's first LTE-only network as it won't be switched back to 2G or 3G network if there is no 4G network available in your area. However, the main catch here is your phone should have support for VoLTE to make voice calls, as calls won't be connected with the VoLTE feature. We have already listed the supported smartphones for Reliance Jio.
Reliance Jio Premium Apps
All the tariff plans will offer unlimited access to the Jio's premium apps such as JioPlay, JioCinema, JioMusic, etc. Also, the welcome offer will be bundled with the apps as well. New users will be able to use the Jio apps for free up to December 31, 2016. However, there is some news saying that the users will be able to access free Jio app service up to December 31, 2017.
Reliance JioFi
If your phone doesn't have support for 4G and if you are not interesting in getting a new 4G device, then the option to enjoy Jio services is the company's own small router called as ‘JioFi'. A total of 31 devices can connect to the JioFi at a time. Previously, the device was available for Rs. 2,899, but now you can get it for Rs. 1,999 from any Reliance store.
