10 Things You Didn't Know About Reliance Jio 4G SIM
Earlier this month, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Group at company's General Annual Meeting (AGM), announced the service to the general public along with all the prepaid and postpaid plans.
The data plans offered by other operators are nowhere in competition when compared to what Reliance has offered. BSNL quickly counter-attacked by introducing some plans, but they are not as affordable as the new entrant.
Until December 31, 2016, Reliance Jio will be completely free for every user under a new scheme called 'Welcome Offer'. Nevertheless, there are some rumours as well suggesting the welcome offer be expanded till mid-2017 because of many reasons and one will be the insufficient interconnections by the incumbents.

There were some interesting things announced by Mukesh Ambani at the launch event and here are the top 10 things to know about the newly announced service.
LTE-Only
Unlike other carriers, Reliance Jio won't switch to other networks such as 2G or 3G, because the service is truly LTE-Ready making it the first telecom 4G-ready network of the country.
Free Voice Calls
One of the big announcement at the meeting was the free voice calls. Reliance Jio will offer free calls for your lifetime. That said, you need to either pay for data and it uses the voice data itself to make calls.
However, to make a voice call, your smartphone should have support for VoLTE.
Attractive Tariff Plans
Taking a dig at other telecom networks in the country, Mukesh Ambani announced the tariff plans of both prepaid and postpaid. And the packs start from Rs. 149 and goes up to Rs. 4,999. The same plans reflect for the postpaid connection as well.
eKYC Activation
Following the footsteps of Airtel and Vodafone, Reliance Jio is also offering their SIM cards with eKYC activation, which means that your SIM card will be activated within 15 minutes. However, the service isn't live yet.
JioNet Wi-Fi Hotspots
Reliance Jio is also aiming to provide free Wi-Fi hotspots all over the country. According to Jio, this reduces network congestion. Also, every user will receive some free JioNet data along with the tariff plans.
Student Offers
The Mukesh Ambani-led company is expected to offer 25 percent more data to students. At the time of refilling their tariff plan, students have to show their respective ID card to enjoy more data.
JioFi hotspot devices
Reliance also started selling JioFi hotspot device, with which each user can connect 31 devices at a time. The pricing for these hotspot devices starts from Rs. 1,999. Apparently, the company released three JioFi devices till date.
No roaming
Unlike other telecom networks, Reliance doesn't cost an extra penny for roaming services because it uses data for voice calling and internet is free all over the country.
Jio Premium Apps
Every Jio user will enjoy the Jio premium apps for free. And, each and every tariff plan comes bundled with Jio's premium apps subscription worth Rs. 15,000.
Welcome Offer
The most important thing. Reliance Jio will be completely free until December 2016. Although, the tariff plans were announced, but they will be effective from January 2017.
