While the company is touting it to be world's highest capacity microSD card, the storage unit comes with a memory space of 400GB.
SanDisk, a premier provider of digital storage products has just announced a new high capacity microSD card in the market.
While the company is touting it to be world's highest capacity microSD card, the storage unit comes with a memory space of 400GB. As per the company, the 400GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card is the highest-capacity microSD card for mobile phone usage.
Talking more about the new product SanDisk's 400GB microSD card can hold up to 40 hours of Full HD video and is capable of a transfer speed of 100MB per second. Well, to make it more relatable, with a speed of 100MB per second users can actually transfer up to 1200 photos of (maximum size of 3.5MB) per minute with USB 3.0 reader. The company claims that the card has been tested at the highest level and that it also meets the A1 app performance specification that helps loading apps much faster.
Commenting on the launch, Sven Rathjen, Vice President, Product Marketing, Western Digital, said, "We continue to push technology boundaries and transform the way consumers use their mobile devices. By focusing on achieving new technology milestones, we enable consumers to keep up with their mobile-centric lifestyles with storage solutions they trust."
As for the pricing, the 400GB microSD card will retail at $249.99 (approximately Rs. 15,924) in the United States. The SD card is available at SanDisk.com for purchase. Further, the company is also offering a 10-year limited warranty on the card.
SanDisk's new card will be succeeding the old 200GB microSD card that was launched way back in 2015. Just to recall, this 200GB variant provided 20 hours of Full HD videos and was capable of transferring around 1,200 images of 3.5 MB size in one minute. Data speed of 90MB per second could be achieved and interestingly the card was waterproof, temperature proof, shock proof, magnet proof and X-ray proof as well. The 200 GB microSD card also came with a 10-year warranty. Currently, the card is priced at Rs. 7,300 in India. It was launched at $399 (approx Rs. 25,518) in 2015.
