Xiaomi CEO accidentally reveals the Mi Band 3
Did Xiaomi CEO just reveal the upcoming Mi band 3?
Xiaomi recently unveiled its gaming smartphone - the Black Shark in the presence of Lei Jun, Xiaomi founder, chairman, and CEO. Amidst all new logos with green streaks all over the place, it comes as no surprise that a lot of people missed the mysterious wearable Lei Jun was donning.
Well, it could be the Xioami Mi Band 3 - the new iteration of company's popular budget smart wearable which is slated to launch later this year. Judging by the photos, the overall shape of the Mi Band seems unchanged, however, the design appears to be tweaked. The top glass seems to spread over the sides, instead of being tucked inside the silicon strap.
A round button can be seen at the bottom and the top side holds a small screen. This might be another small OLED unit as seen on the Mi band 2. The new variant also appears to be slightly bigger than its precursors.
Apart from the photos, there isn't much information available on the Mi band 3. But the smart band is expected to feature an accelerometer, vibration engine, optical heart rate sensor, and Bluetooth 4.2. It might as well have an IP67 certification.
Speaking of the new gaming smartphone, the device features a high-end hardware and a dedicated gamepad controller too, which works with Bluetooth. It sports a 5.99-inch FHD+ display with 2160 x 1080 pixel resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a 2.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC built using the 10nm process.
For gaming, Xiaomi has added Adreno 630 GPU backed by 6GB / 8GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of internal storage. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo and offers dual-SIM functionality. For photography, the device boasts a dual camera setup comprising a 12MP camera with dual-tone LED flash and f/1.75 aperture and a 20MP secondary sensor with a similar f/1.75 aperture. The device has a 20MP front-facing snapper for selfies.
The company has also added a fingerprint sensor for added security. The smartphone draws power from a 4000mAh battery and support for Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 technology. The gamepad controller supports smartphones with Android 4.4 or higher versions. It has a 150mAh battery that claims to offer up to 30 hours of backup.
