True wireless earbuds might be all the rage, but they often fall short of over-the-ear headphones when it comes to sound quality and noise isolation. However, finding a solid pair of over-the-ear wireless headphones usually comes with a hefty price tag.

Enter the Boult Q Wireless Headphones, priced at an accessible Rs 1,999. Promising the essential features of high-quality over-the-ear headphones without breaking the bank, they present an intriguing option for budget-conscious listeners. But can they truly deliver on these promises?

Boult Q Review: Can These Budget Wireless Headphones Really Compete?

Design

Boult's affordable wireless headphones feature a minimalist design with a matte black finish. The Boult Q headphones are both light and comfortable, although the plastic doesn't feel very premium, which is expected at this price. Both earcups are padded with memory foam cushions, although I'd prefer the same padding on the headband. The headphones also feature a foldable, space saving design.

Boult's wireless headphones also come with an IPX5 rating, making them sweatproof and resistant to moisture. Additionally, the Boult Q over-ear headphones also come easy to access buttons on the right earcup. These buttons allow you to skip tracks, adjust volume, and pull-up the voice assistant. While build quality is nothing to write home about, the Boult Q wireless headphones are comfortable for the most part.

Connectivity

The Boult Q headphones offer Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity and fast pairing for a seamless wireless listening experience. However, the AUX audio jack also enables wired playback. Additionally, there's a 60ms Low Latency mode, which is decent for gaming with zero audio lag, although I'd prefer switching to an audio jack for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer. Finally, the Boult Q wireless headphones are compatible with Android, iOS, and Windows devices.

Performance

Pumping out the sound on the Boult Q wireless headphones are 40mm bass drivers that deliver rich, punchy bass that's ideal for genres like EDM and Hip-Hop, providing a satisfying experience for bass enthusiasts. While there is minimal distortion at max volume, the audio loses some clarity, particularly in the midrange, at lower volumes, making certain details less distinct.

There are four EQ modes including Bass, Vocal, Rock, and Pop that can be accessed with The ENC Calling Mic enhances call quality, effectively reducing background noise for clear, uninterrupted conversations. This makes the headphones a versatile choice, suitable not just for music but also for calls, whether you're working or on the go.

The dual-stream DSP technology is a highlight, delivering richer, more dynamic sound with synchronized audio processing. This feature lets you immerse yourself fully in music, capturing every crisp high and deep bass note. The overall sound quality on the Boult Q wireless headphones is decent, while the DSP and ENC features are solid additions considering the price.

Battery Life & Charging

Boult claim that the Q Wireless Headphones that deliver up to 70 hours of battery life on a single charge. I didn't test Boult's claims, but the battery life is impressive to say the least as I never found the need to charge these headphones during my entire testing, apart from the time I took them out of the box.

Despite their price, the Boult Q Wireless Headphones support USB Type-C fast charging, offering up to 10 hours of playback on a 10-minute charge. The battery life and charging speed on the Boult Q Wireless Headphones are quite impressive, ensuring your lengthy gaming and listening sessions go on without interruption.
