Honeywell Trueno U5100 Review: Quality Audio Meets Comfortable Design at an Oh-So Reasonable Price
Honeywell recently released a new range of true wireless earbuds in India. Yes, Honeywell, a multinational conglomerate involved in several major industries across the world. In India, Honeywell is also known for its surge protectors, air purifiers, smart home devices, and more.
However, unknown to me, Honeywell has been dropping audio products for some time now. And the Trueno U5100 are the company's top-end pair of true wireless earbuds, aiming to deliver a premium audio experience without breaking the bank. So let's dive into our full Honeywell Trueno U5100 review to see if these earbuds are worth it.

- Comfortable Design
- Good Audio Quality
- Effective Noise Cancellation
- Excellent Battery Life with Fast Charging Support
- Reasonably Priced
- Decent Call Quality
- Lack of App / EQ Support
- Poor Build Quality
- Touch Controls Cannot be Customized
Design and Build
Straight off the bat, the build quality here is average, although both the case and earbuds are fairly light weight. The plastic here does feel cheap, although it does have a nice smooth finish. Another aspect of the build I wasn't too fond of was the hinge design, which made the lid feel flimsy.
The earbuds are easy to pull out, with the Honeywell logo on the stem and a matte finish. There are LED indicators on each bud as well as the front of the case. The earbuds' design offers a snug and comfortable fit.

I cycled the bumpy roads of the city for three hours without any worry of the earbuds slipping out or any signs of fatigue. The lightweight earbud design comes in clutch here. Lastly, the Trueno U5100 earbuds also feature an IPX5 rating for resistance to light splashes of water and sweat.
The touch controls on the buds are located on the stem and are quite responsive. They can be used to do everything from controlling playback to switching between noise cancellation and transparency modes. Overall, the Honeywell Trueno U5100 earbuds prioritize comfort, even if it comes at the cost of build quality.
Performance
Despite its affordable price tag, the Honeywell Trueno U5100 packs 10mm drivers to offer clear and balanced output. The earbuds also output crisps vocals with good instrument separation. Unlike most affordable earbuds, Honeywell doesn't go all-out on the bass as it rarely overpowers the vocals, allowing each instrument to shine.

I listened to the earbuds at 60% volume for most of this review with no dips in audio quality. However, sound quality does take a hit if you go all the way up to 90% volume or higher, although that was too loud for my liking and at 60%, the audio quality was surprisingly good for a pair of affordable true wireless earbuds.
The U5100 earbuds incorporate 6 microphones to ensure solid background noise suppression and clear audio output. You can easily use these earbuds for indoor calling, although quality does deteriorate outdoors, particularly with a lot of ambient noise. The earbuds are also equipped with a gaming mode that drops latency below 50ms, ensuring no delays while gaming.

The Honeywell Trueno U5100 earbuds feature hybrid noise cancellation, offering both active and passive noise cancellation. The earbuds are good at cancelling ambient sounds indoors as well as the sound of traffic, although noise from horns and other rumbling engines right next to you do leak through. If you want to be aware of your surroundings, you can switch to transparency mode.
Battery
Equipped with a 320 mAh battery, the earbuds and case offer up to 62 hours of playback with ANC off and up to 44 hours with ANC turned off. I couldn't verify Honeywell's figures, but I got around seven hours of battery life on a single charge, which is well-above the average.

The case has a USB Type-C port on the bottom to support fast charging with Honeywell claiming 400 minutes of playback on a 10-minute charge with ANC turned on and going up to 600 minutes without ANC. There's no wireless charging, which doesn't come as a shock considering the Trueno U5100's price tag. Overall, battery life and charging speed exceeded our expectations.
Verdict
With a price tag of Rs 4,149 on Amazon India, are the Honeywell Trueno U5100 TWS earbuds worth considering? The Honeywell Trueno U5100 offers a comfortable listening experience with its ergonomic design. To further enhance the listening experience, the sound quality here was better than expected.

The noise cancellation and call quality on the earbuds were well-above the average. The Trueno 5100 also offered excellent battery life and convenient fast charging support. However, there are a couple of downsides here, like the unimpressive build quality and the lack of app support. And while the touch controls are responsive, they aren't customizable.
The lack of an app also means no custom EQ, which we have seen on earbuds in the sub-3K segment. But these weren't necessarily dealbreakers as the Honeywell Trueno U5100 checked the most important boxes for a good pair of true wireless earbuds, i.e., sound quality, noise cancellation, and comfort, earning them a solid recommendation in our books.
