Samsung India recently announced a new interactive digital display- Samsung Flip for B2B customers in the Indian market. Priced at Rs. 3 lacs, the interactive display was first unveiled at CES 2018 and is designed to facilitate collaborative digital engagement in office spaces. Samsung says that with the Flip interactive screen, meetings can take place anywhere and at any time.

Samsung FLIP Interactive Display First Impressions

Flip is basically a rotatable big interactive screen mounted on a movable stand that can be placed in any room to start an office meeting. We got a chance to test the product in Samsung's facility and here's what we have to say about Samsung Flip.

I have recently tested Samsung Frame TV and was delighted to see the similar big-screen experience in an all new modern avatar. Flip is a 55-inch Edge LED type screen with a resolution of 3840x2160 pixels. The screen has a contrast ratio of 4700:1 and viewing angles of 178 degrees. The display is bright and very touch responsive. It supports a color gamut of 72% and has a maximum pixel frequency of 578 Mhz. Flip offers UHD picture quality which is more than enough for board room meetings.

Multi-writing up to 4 users at a time

Multi-writing up to 4 users at a time

Flip ensures simultaneous interaction as up to four different participants can write and annotate directly on screen at the same time. Moreover, users can also customize their own writing style, size and color to differentiate the input content. And the best part, you can use virtually any writing tool on this screen. I tested various input devices and all worked without any issues on Flip's Edge LED type screen.

Unlike traditional boards, no touch pens are required to interact with the screen and, notes can be erased through a quick palm swipe. You can access up to 20 pages of writing space on Flip. Besides, you don't have to search through multiple sheets of paper or lines of notes to locate a specific detail as Flip is backed by embedded search functionalities that instantly direct any user to a specific content.

Customizable and Easy to use Interface

Customizable and Easy to use Interface

Samsung Flip doesn't restrict you in one specific office space orientation. It is completely customizable and can be configured to portrait or landscape orientations to suit unique meeting needs. Besides, you can also connect the Flip display to a compatible wall mount for board meetings. Flip's user interface is also quite intuitive. Samsung says that the Flip's interface is specifically designed to be user-friendly and allow for timely, uninterrupted conversation. Flip runs on Tizen 3.0 and also has internal storage that stores meeting notes in real-time, thus preventing the need to stop conversation to save each page.

Another important part of Flip's design is its wheel-based stand that allows you to easily move the complete setup from one room to another. This makes for added flexibility to businesses with limited conference space. The setup also has a pen holder and a tray to hold pens or any other office related tools.

Samsung Flip is powered by a CA72 quad-core CPU. The internal storage is 8GB, out of which, 5.35GB space is available for usage. Flip comes with OpenGL ES support for graphics. Two passive pen inputs, one power cable and one touch out cable is included in the package.

Connectivity and Security

Connectivity and Security

As the product is aimed at B2B clients, Samsung has also taken care of connectivity and security. Flip display securely stores all content within a central database, eliminating the need for transcripts or recaps. The password-based protection system safeguards meeting details. Only approved users can access the data stored on Flip. Once logged in, meeting facilitators and participants can download and share featured content through email or traditional printing.

As far as connectivity is concerned, you can save meeting notes to a USB drive or other external sources. Moreover, it's also quite easy to connect your Android cell phone with Flip. The digital whiteboard can simulate the mobile UI where you can access all your mobile apps and files on big screen. Interestingly, Flip also allows users to control the mobile device from its large touchscreen. Besides, Flip also offers HDMI, Bluetooth, Screen mirroring, NFC, Wi-Fi and USB 2.0 (x2). Flip also has two 10W speakers built-in.

Samsung Flip is priced at Rs. 3 lacs and can be an ideal meeting platform for office goers, entrepreneurs and business professionals. The interactive display can also find ample use cases in the academic and health sector.
