HONOR Magic 9 Series Launched with ARRI Imaging, Snapdragon 8 Elite Chipsets, Massive Silicon Carbon Batteries

HONOR has expanded its flagship smartphone line-up in China with the Magic 9 series, placing camera hardware, large silicon-carbon batteries and AI-led software features at the centre of the launch. The range includes three models: HONOR Magic 9, HONOR Magic 9 Pro Max and HONOR Magic 9 Super Edition.

The biggest shift is the use of ARRI co-branded imaging systems on the Magic 9 and Magic 9 Pro Max. The Super Edition takes a different route, offering a separate camera setup and a much larger 11,000mAh battery. For buyers tracking China-first flagship launches, the series shows how brands are now combining camera partnerships, computational photography and bigger batteries to stand out.

HONOR Magic 9: Specifications and Features

The HONOR Magic 9 features a 6.37-inch OLED display with a 1,236 × 2,664 pixel resolution, 460ppi pixel density and a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel supports Dolby Vision, HDR Vivid, ZREAL and 3,840Hz PWM dimming, with a claimed peak brightness of 10,000 nits.

For photography, the smartphone has a dual 200-megapixel ARRI co-branded camera system, comprising a 200-megapixel main sensor with a 1/1.4-inch sensor size, f/1.9 aperture and CIPA 7.5 stabilisation, alongside a 200-megapixel telephoto camera with a 1/1.56-inch sensor, f/2.6 aperture and CIPA 7.5 stabilisation. It also gets a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 55-megapixel front camera.

The handset is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, paired with an 8,000mAh silicon-carbon battery. It supports 80W wired and 50W wireless charging.

Its imaging features include ARRI LogC3 processing, all 87 official ARRI Look profiles, LUT support and three-second 4K ARRI Live Photo recording. The phone also features HONOR's 6nm Yuguang H1 imaging chip, MagicOS 11 based on Android 17, and IP68, IP69 and IP69K protection.

HONOR Magic 9 Pro Max: Specifications and Features

The HONOR Magic 9 Pro Max sports a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display with a 1,320 × 2,868 pixel resolution, 464ppi density and an adaptive refresh rate of 1Hz to 120Hz. It supports up to 10,000 nits peak brightness, 6,000 nits brightness at a 20 percent window and 2,000 nits global brightness. The display also features a 5,600-layer silicon nitride coating that reduces reflectivity to 1.5 percent.

The phone has a dual 200-megapixel ARRI co-branded rear camera setup. Its main camera uses a 1/1.28-inch sensor, f/1.57 aperture and CIPA 8.0 stabilisation, with claimed 3-degree gimbal-level stabilisation. The 200-megapixel telephoto camera features a 1/1.4-inch sensor, CIPA 8.0 stabilisation and the AiMAGE clarity engine. The setup is complemented by a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 55-megapixel selfie camera and a 3D depth-sensing camera.

For imaging, the phone supports ARRI CINEMA Mode at up to 4K 60fps, 10-bit colour depth, ARRI Wide Gamut 3 and up to 14 stops of cinematic dynamic range. It also supports ARRI LiveVideo recording.

The Magic 9 Pro Max runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform and packs an 8,800mAh battery with 100W wired and 80W wireless charging. Other features include 3D Face Recognition, 3D Ultrasonic Fingerprint Recognition, MagicOS 11 and IP68, IP69 and IP69K protection.

HONOR Magic 9 Super Edition: Specifications and Features

The HONOR Magic 9 Super Edition focuses on battery capacity and sustained performance. It packs an 11,000mAh battery and is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. The phone also features an active micro-fan, a nanoscale vapour chamber and thermal gel for cooling. HONOR claims its 30,000RPM Dongfeng Turbo Cooling system improves cooling efficiency by 30 percent.

The smartphone features a 6.81-inch OLED display with a 1,280 × 2,788 pixel resolution, support for 1.07 billion colours, DCI-P3 coverage and a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel also supports 3,840Hz PWM dimming, 10,000 nits peak brightness and 2,000 nits global brightness.

For photography, the Magic 9 Super Edition has a 200-megapixel main camera with a 1/2.55-inch sensor and f/1.9 aperture, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with a 68mm equivalent focal length and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera. On the front, it gets a 50-megapixel camera with a 21mm equivalent lens. Portrait features include skin-tone adjustment, yellow-cast reduction, Clear & Radiant portrait style and AI colour replication.

The handset measures 161.78 × 76.72 × 8.10mm and weighs approximately 227g. HONOR claims the battery supports over 20 hours of outdoor navigation, more than 7.5 hours of indoor gaming and over 33 hours of video playback.

Other features include MagicOS 11 based on Android 17, HONOR's C3 RF chip, Hongyan AI Cloud Map and IP68, IP69 and IP69K protection.

HONOR Magic 9 Series Price and Availability

The HONOR Magic 9 series is available to order in China. The Magic 9 starts at 4,999 yuan (approximately ₹71,500) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. Its 12GB + 512GB, 16GB + 512GB and 16GB + 1TB variants are priced at 5,499 yuan (approximately ₹78,600), 5,999 yuan (approximately ₹85,800) and 6,999 yuan (approximately ₹1,00,100), respectively.

The HONOR Magic 9 Pro Max starts at 6,499 yuan (approximately ₹92,900) for the 12GB + 256GB model. The 12GB + 512GB version costs 6,999 yuan (approximately ₹1,00,100), while the 16GB + 512GB model is priced at 7,499 yuan (approximately ₹1,07,200). The top 16GB + 1TB variant costs 8,499 yuan (approximately ₹1,21,500).

The HONOR Magic 9 Super Edition is the most affordable model in the series. It starts at 4,499 yuan (approximately ₹64,300) for the 12GB + 256GB version. The 12GB + 512GB and 16GB + 512GB variants are priced at 4,999 yuan (approximately ₹71,500) and 5,499 yuan (approximately ₹78,600), respectively.

HONOR has said that regional rollouts of the Magic 9 Pro Max across Europe, MEA, Southeast Asia and other key international markets will be announced shortly. The company has not mentioned international availability for the standard Magic 9 or Magic 9 Super Edition. For India, there is no confirmed launch timeline yet.
