Mediatek to unveil Helio P23 and Helio P30 processors on August 29

MediaTek seems to be all set to take over Qualcomm by unveiling two new chips later this month. Going by a recent report by Myfixguide citing information from Weibo, MediaTek is in plans to launch the Helio P23 and P30 processors on August 29.

While we know that MediaTek Helio P23 and Helio P30 processors are set to be launched on August 29, it remains unknown regarding which smartphones will introduce these SoCs at first. And, it is quite interesting to know the same. According to the report, the Chinese manufacturers such as Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi and Meizu might be the first ones to use these MediaTek chipsets in their smartphones those are to be released in the fourth quarter of this year.

Going by the report, the MediaTek Helio P23 SoC will be the less-powerful one of the duo. It is said to be manufactured using the 16nm process and feature eight cores. This chipset is believed to support Quad HD displays and dual-lens camera setups and be suitable for the mid-range smartphones. It is believed that this processor will support Cat.7 connectivity and LPDDR4X memory.

Talking about the MediaTek Helio P30 SoC, it is claimed that it will be manufactured on the TSMC 12nm manufacturing process and support four ARM Cortex A72 cores clocked at 1.5GHz and four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.5GHz. The Helio P30 SoC is also claimed to support download speeds up to 600Mbps with the Cat.10 connectivity.

Furthermore, the source has revealed that MediaTek is expected to ship over 3 million units of these chips per month. Previously, the same source revealed that MediaTek is considering to drop the price of the Helio P23 SoC in order to match it with the price cut of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC. However, this information remains to be unconfirmed as yet.
