Amazon Appstore Comes to India And Also Gets Updated To Version 5.0
Last month, Amazon announced that it would be expanding it's Android-based Appstore to 200 countries. Also the company opened gates for developers to submit apps for distribution.
Fallowing the announcement Amazon Appstore has now been updated to version 5.0, to bring support for over 200 countries from around the world including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, India, South Africa, South Korea, and even Papua New Guinea, Vatican City and other countries.
To celebrate the launch, the Amazon Appstore is offering popular gaming apps 'Fruit Ninja' along with 'Cut the Rope: Experiments' for free from May 23 and May 24. Also, Amazon has announced "Free App of the Day," which offers a paid app for free every day.
Amazon is taking quite a few aggressive steps in order to promote it's app store, it is even offering great promotions and discounts on popular games from leading brands such as Ubisoft, Sega and Rovio till June 3.
"We are thrilled to be expanding the reach of our global app distribution to nearly 200 countries. We think our customers will love the app selection we have to offer and also find features such as Free App of the Day and personalised recommendations very helpful as they discover and explore new apps and games," said Mike George, Vice President of Apps and Games at Amazon
"By further expanding the distribution of apps to millions of customers around the world, we are continuing to make it easy for customers to enjoy their Amazon apps on Kindle Fire and any Android device." He adds.
You can download the app store from here. To install the app you will have to open Settings and navigate to the Unknown sources option and tap the checkbox and then tap OK on the confirmation popup.
