Facebook Ditches Mobile HTML: Launches Native Android App

Android users are finally heaving sighs of relief as Facebook has released the native app for Android which will make the users' Facebook experience much faster. Named as Facebook for Android 2.0, this version is claimed to increase the speed two-fold when loading pictures and opening Timeline.

Facebook also claims that the app launches very quickly. Back in August, Facebook had made the iOS app native getting rid of HTML5, but leaving Android to bite the dust at that time.

Folks at Facebook say that everything has been rebuilt with speed being the primary focus similar to the Facebook native application for iOS. Even though nothing much has changed in terms of design, users can certainly experience a large difference in speed.

The Timeline, news feed and notifications have been totally rebuilt for increased speed. Photos open within an instant at just a tap, albums can be scrolled through without having to leave news feeds, and the app automatically updates for new stories too without needing a refresh.

Faster loading of pages and speedier navigation among other improvements give a way smoother performance than before. Many sluggish performance issues have also been fixed by Facebook.

HTML 5 had the advantage of cross-platform compatibility which allowed the app to be used in different platforms such as iOS or Android. However, it does not match in performance to an app that is native to a particular platform.

Facebook had earlier said that mobile would be its key focus area and the introduction of these native apps are definitely pointing towards that direction.
You can either get the link to download Facebook for Android 2.0 texted to your Android phone or else download the app from Google Play Store.
