Flipboard 2.0 With Support to Magazine Creation Available for iOS, Coming to Android Next Month
Flipboard has been one of the best magazine-style news readers around for a while, and it has been getting pretty regular updates. On Tuesday, the app has received a major bump by means of an update.
Well, the talk is about Flipboard 2.0, which has brought in a number of additions to the news reader application. Yes, there are a ton of changes with Flipboard 2.0 including a major social change. Users can create their own magazine by saving photos, articles, video and audio and organizing them into magazines. Also, users can make these magazines public and share them with others.
Further, there is a new commenting system, wherein one can comment on articles and use @mentions to connect with other Flipboard users. Content Guide has been redone to more easily access content and magazines and the app has a new bookmarklet that will let users to flip websites into Flipboard to read later. There is a new Recommended Reading section with articles Flipboard thinks the users will like.
In addition to announcing the new update, Flipboard has also announced that it has hit 50 million users, which is impressive. Unfortunately, the upgrade is only available on iOS right now and will come to Android only in the next month. iOS users can download the new Flipboard 2.0 app available for free in the iTunes App Store.
