Nokia Z Launcher for Android Now Available on Google Play Store

Immediately after launching the N1 tablet, the Finland-based Nokia officially introduced its recently announced Android launcher app, Nokia Z Launcher, onto the Google Play Store.

Nokia's Z Launcher app has been available since June under an early 'alpha' program. The highlight feature of the launcher is the gesture recognition, which allows users to scribble letters on the screen to quickly bring up related apps and contacts, much like you would do through the ‘search' function on your Android smartphone.

The Z launcher automatically learn the frequency at which you use available apps, and consequently lists your usage pattern to intelligently suggest certain apps at certain times.

According to Nokia, the app prediction algorithm has been markedly improved as well, where Nokia says it "found ways to bring more context into our algorithm and to hone the algorithm data to just keep the important elements that give users the best results."

Nokia Z Launcher works with most Android handsets running Android 4.1 and later. The Nokia Z Launcher is not available on India Google Play store just yet.

A day back, Nokia surprised everyone by coming out with its N1 tablet device. The N1 tablet, which will be made available in China next year, features a 7.9-inch QHD screen and is running on Android 5.0 Lollipop, with the Z Launcher pre-layered on top.
