Nokia Lumia 800: Official Windows Phone 7.8 Update Hits Smartphone
Just a few days ago, Lumia 510 was launched in India having Windows Phone 7.8 update and now it has been reported by a Dutch site, WP7.nl, that Nokia Lumia 800 can also receive the long-awaited update through Microsoft Zune syncing software. The device can be upgraded to Windows Phone 7.8 through the Zune Desktop client. The update will bring in several new improvements such as a brand new start screen, Nokia"s own proprietary camera lens, new boot screen etc. The update takes place in four different segments –firstly an update to Windows Phone 7, then to 7.10.8779.8 followed by 7.10.8783, and finally, 7.10.8858.136. Soon after the upgrade, users can immediately see the boot screen which is new and also the option of resizing Live Tiles. No news has been out whether it is available in India. This might be a fragmented roll-out of the update. Therefore, it might take a while before it reaches India. Since Lumia 510 already has the update, it might not be far off when Lumia 800 also receives Windows Phone 7.8 upgrade in India. Windows Phone 7.8 OS has been launched sort of like a consolation for users of certain phones like Nokia Lumia 800 and 900 who can"t upgrade to Windows 8. Many features of the Windows Phone 8 OS has been brought to the Windows Phone 7.8 OS such as the option of resizing Live Tiles as well as being able to make Google the default search provider in Internet Explorer app. The update was not scheduled to happen until early 2013. However, during this weekend it made an unofficial appearance at the NaviFirm servers.
