Last Seen Replaced by Double Ticks
Apparently, the new update will make sure you get to know if your last message was read. While the confirmation was previously taken care by the occasional "Last Seen" notification below the text, it will now show a couple of blue ticks to let you know.
Updated Universally
This isn't one of those updates that arrive on a single platform at start while others wait out patiently. On the contrary, since WhatsApp is universally used across all platforms, the maker has kept to the age old "equality for all" fundamentals.
Message Info
For any message that you send, you will be able to see a Message Info screen. This screen will display the details of when your message was delivered, read or played by the recipient. Also note that when a participant leaves a group, the Message Info screen will still show the original information.
Bypass the Blue Ticks
If you are of the anonymous sorts, there's a way you can not tell the world that you saw the last message. When you receive a text, don't open it. Instead, go out of the app, disconnect the Internet capabilities of your handset, go into your app and then open the text. Later reconnect the Internet, but the ticks will still remain grey.
You Will Now Have to Reply to Everyone
With great power, comes great responsibility. In this instance, however, with better technology, comes bigger headache. Your friends will know if you saw their last post or not owing to the new double ticks. And in case you don't reply, they will keep haggering you for a reply, especially when they know that you have indeed seen the text. You can run, but can't hide!
