Finnish game developer Rovio has big news for all its Angry Birds fans currently based on Apple's iOS operating system. According to reports, a brand new RPG-based Angry Birds Epic has been made official for the Apple-based operating system.

Rovio today launched Angry Birds Epic for iOS devices worldwide. The game features a fantasy-adventure story with RPG-based gameplay features.

The player will now control Angry Birds characters Red, Chuck, and Bomb while they explore Piggy Island to battle the series' classic pig villains.

The new game, as we mentioned before, takes place on the fictitious 'Piggy Island' in the Angry Birds' universe. This time, the Bad Piggies are robbing the eggs of the birds once again. However, difference lies in the manner in which the birds hunt the bad pigs down, this time around.

The game is filled with several 'epic worlds' including villages, mountains, beaches and caves where Red, Chuck, Bomb and the others hunt down Crown Pig and his evil green minions.

The new title is Rovio's first and newest Angry Birds release of 2014, with the company also prepping to launch Angry Birds Stella in September after teasing the game earlier this year.

The latter, however, is expected to offer multiple elements, as Rovio is said to tie-in animations, books, toys, and more alongside the game.
