Facebook Nearby Friends Feature Now Available for Android And iOS Users

Facebook has more good news for all its mobile-based fans. According to reports, the app for the mobile platform has been updated with a new option that let's you track down nearby friends inside your vicinity.

The new update, which has arrived for devices running on Android and iOS, is basically a brand new option offered via the company where the feature lets you see which friends are situated close to you. All this, of course, happens provided both you and the other party have already enabled the functionality first.

"If you turn on Nearby Friends, you'll occasionally be notified when friends are nearby, so you can get in touch with them and meet up. For example, when you're headed to the movies, Nearby Friends will let you know if friends are nearby so you can see the movie together or meet up afterward," the official post for the same states.

But before you head over to the new feature, it is important here to discuss where in in the Facebook app you can access Nearby Friends.

All you need to do is tap the "More" icon in the bottom-right corner, and hit "Nearby Friends" located just above "Nearby Places."

If you have already activated the feature, you will also be able to access it by opening the friends menu by swiping from the right. Moreover, you can also see a News Feed story showing you a list of friends nearby.

"If you turn on Nearby Friends, you can also choose to share a precise location with the particular friends you choose for a set period of time, such as the next hour," the official post adds.

"When you share your precise location, the friend you choose will see exactly where you are on a map, which helps you find each other. Then you can meet up and spend time together."

Facebook's Nearby Friends feature will be available on Android and iPhone in the US over the coming weeks. The feature will be later globally sent out for all the users.
