Facebook Introduces Snapchat Rival Slingshot For Android

By Prarthito

After numerous reports and even a potential leak last week, it seems like Facebook has officially shown the green light to its answer to the popular Snapchat service. We are talking about Slingshot, of course.

Most Facebook users won't really be amazed by the new launch since the application was briefly leaked online last week. And even though Facebook pulled it down later, Slingshot was rumored to arrive sometime this week for all its fans.

However, it looks like Slingshot is currently only available for Android devices. And although the iOS version was released at the same time as that of the Android one, it was pulled down yet again for some unknown reason. Nonetheless, it is expected that the service will go live on App Store once again.

But Slingshot isn't another average messaging app you deal with everyday. As the official team writes: "With Slingshot, we wanted to build something where everybody is a creator and nobody is just a spectator."

"When everyone participates, there's less pressure, more creativity and even the little things in life can turn into awesome shared experiences. This is what Slingshot is all about," it adds.

Facebook's new application called Slingshot will indeed look to offer features similar to Snapchat, but in a different way. And while you can send photos and funny effects to your friends, they will only be visible when that friend sends you back another "sling" of hisn or her own. And the same is applicable for videos.

You can now download Slingshot for Android for free via Google Play Store.
