In an attempt to make users spend more time on its app, Facebook is rolling out a new update for its Messenger app (both iOS and Android) which brings a new feature called 'Instant Games.’

With this feature, users can play a variety of games within the Messenger app without having to download or install any other gaming apps additionally. When you’re waiting for someone to text you back, you can select among 17 games that are available and start playing them there itself. You can also challenge your friends and beat each other’s gaming records.

Unlike soccer or volley ball, initiating a challenge or starting a game is pretty straight-forward now. Just click on the new game controller icon located below where you type a message, choose a game, and start playing it.

Like mentioned earlier, currently there are 17 games available to select from including classic arcade games like Pac-Man, Galaga, and Space Invaders.

Pac-Man

Facebook Messenger’s ‘Instant Games’ includes Pac-Man — one of the classic arcade game. The gameplay, like most of you know, if not all, remains the same. Pac-Man is left to eat all the dots (or fruits) in a maze and users will have to control him.

Galaga

Galaga is an arcade video game from the golden age. Alongside Pac-Man, Galaga is another all time classic game. And now it’s available on Facebook Messenger. For those who are not in the know, Galaga is a vertical space ship shooter game published by Namco Japan.
