From Voice Chats to Music on Status: What’s New on WhatsApp This Holi
If you’ve ever tried planning Holi in a group chat, you already know how chaotic it can get. Messages flying in, people replying hours later, someone missing the final plan completely.

WhatsApp seems to understand that rhythm. Ahead of Holi, the app has rolled out a set of updates that feel less like flashy announcements and more like practical fixes to everyday problems.
Voice Chats Instead Of Endless Messages
One of the more useful additions is Voice Chat inside groups. Instead of typing back and forth or calling people individually, you can start a voice space and let others join when they’re free.

It’s quieter than a full group call and less intrusive. For something like locking the venue or deciding who’s bringing snacks, it makes sense.
Status Gets A Bit More Fun
Status has also picked up a few creative tools. You can now add music to your Status updates, which makes those colour-filled photos feel a bit more alive.

There’s also support for collages through Layout, photo stickers, and an “Add Yours” chain feature. It’s the kind of thing people will naturally use during festivals when everyone’s posting multiple pictures anyway.
Scheduled Calls For The Pre-Holi Chaos
Another update that’s easy to overlook is scheduled calls. You can set a video or voice call in advance, invite people, and let WhatsApp remind everyone when it’s time.

It’s simple, but useful if you’re coordinating something with friends or looping in family who won’t be there in person.
Small Changes Inside Group Chats
Group chats have picked up a few subtle upgrades too. Member Tags let people mark their role in a group. Event Reminders help important plans stand out instead of getting buried.

You can also turn a message into a text sticker, which sounds minor, but it’s a quick way to highlight something without repeating it ten times.
