Google Flights gets an overhaul; offers better integration with mobile devices
To provide additional information, the app will now offer users with four tabs - Flights, Hotels, Your Trips and Explore.
In an effort to make trip planning easy on smartphones, Google has altered the way its hotel and flight search works. With the new update, users will get to see a new layout with four tabs - Flights, Hotels, Your Trips and Explore. To get additional info users can go to the Explore tab, while Your Trips tab will show user's past and upcoming trips.

The information in Your Trips are private, so only the user has access to that tab. Users will also able to email their trip reservations to other directly from the tab and edit their reservations, even in offline mode.
The Flights tab allows users to book flights and filter them according to date and price. Booking of hotels can be done using the Hotels tab with filters for pricing, occupancy, date, and other important factors. Hotels tab also displays photos and let you swipe through without leaving the list of hotels.
Once the flight is booked, the Hotels tab automatically gets populated with suggested places. Likewise, the Flights also populates if a hotel booking is done. However, both tabs are accessible without booking a hotel or flight, users just have to search a destination in Google Flights.
Google's main motive to revamp the app might be to cater the users who frequently book tickets on mobile devices. Not as many people make travel plans on their Pcs as before, so the new update will be a welcomed change.
The Google Flights app also uses machine learning to predict delays of any flight. The system combines previous flight histories with a computerized algorithm to perform the task. What's interesting is that the app can predict delay even before the airline has announced it.
"We're at least 80 percent confident in the prediction. We still recommend getting to the airport with enough time to spare, but hope this information can manage expectations and prevent surprises," says Google in a blog post.

The company is also adding a new feature that will be helpful for users looking for tickets at a lower price. The app will also show details such as seat selection, baggage fees, and the overhead bin space. These details would help users plan their trip within their budget.
