Google Maps for Android, iOS Updated With Offline Maps, Lane Guidance and More

Here's more good news for all you travelers hooked to your Google Maps all the time for directions. According to reports, Google has once more updated its Maps offering with more new user-friendly features that will now make the entire experience even more engaging.

Google, with the new update to the Maps feature, will now offer a wide range of new features. These include lane guidance, opening Maps in offline mode, access Uber direclty from within the Maps and others.

Google made the new update known to the world via its official blog which the company recently updated with information related to the new changes made to the same.

"When your life is moving fast, you need tools to keep up with your pace. Google Maps for mobile is the perfect travel companion for your daily commute, weekend errands, and (much-needed) vacations. Starting today, you now have even more ways to avoid life's everyday hiccups with Google Maps for Android and iPhone/iPad," the official post for the same states.

With the new update now in place, the Google Maps app now informs users on which lane to stay in or move to so the user doesn't have to drive for miles down the wrong road.

Users will also have easy access to alternate routes while navigating, so that the the app can choose the best drive available for following.

Also, users will now be relieved off the bane of poor and slow internet while travelling as the new update can now allow users to save a map with custom name that can be later used offline. Moreover, if users have Uber installed on their phones, then they can now compare the rides based on walking directions and transit right from within Google Maps.

"With more than a million public transit stops on Google Maps, you'll get reliable information to help you get where you're going. Next time you're in Chicago, search for directions to Lincoln Park Zoo, tap the train icon, and select "Depart at" to choose the time and day you want to leave-or even "last train home" for those night owls-so you get the most accurate transit information for your needs," the official post further adds.

Google's Maps feature is one of the highly used Mapping applications on the planet, and with the new major update, the feature all set to help a host of people requiring guidance while on the move.
