Instagram Could Soon Let You Watch Reels Offline: Here's How
We’ve all been there. You open Instagram, tap on Reels, and… nothing loads. Either the network is weak or the app just refuses to buffer anything useful.

Now, a new leak suggests Instagram might be working on a way around that.
Offline Reels Could Be On The Way
According to app developer and tipster Alessandro Paluzzi, Instagram is testing a feature that lets you watch Reels even when you’re offline.
From what’s been shared, the idea is simple. The app could automatically download a set of Reels in the background so you can still scroll through them later without needing an internet connection.
It’s not a huge shift on paper, but in real use, it could make a difference. Especially if you’re often in places where data speeds drop or coverage isn’t reliable.
You May Get Control Over What Gets Downloaded
The leak also shows a possible new section called “Manage offline downloads.”
Instead of blindly saving content, Instagram may let you decide how this works. That includes:
- Turning automatic downloads on or off
- Limiting downloads to Wi-Fi only
- Choosing how many Reels stay saved on your device
The options shown in the leak suggest users could store around 10, 30, or 50 videos at a time.
There’s also some flexibility in how you access them. Offline Reels might show up directly in your feed, or they could sit inside a separate downloads section.
Still Early, And Not Confirmed
Right now, this feature hasn’t been officially announced.
It appears to be in testing, which means things could change, or it may not roll out at all. That’s usually how these early leaks go.
Still, the direction makes sense. Instagram is heavily focused on Reels, and making them usable even without a stable connection feels like a logical step.
