Instagram Reels Translation Now Supports Five More Indian Languages: Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, and More
Back in October, Meta expanded the Reels translation feature on both Instagram and Facebook, allowing creators to translate their Reels into Hindi and Portuguese. Now, it is adding more languages on Instagram and Facebook to support Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi and Kannada.
Instagram head Adam Mosseri has confirmed via his official social media handle that Instagram is adding support for five more languages – Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, and Kannada. With this update, Reels translation now supports nine languages in total, as it already includes English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Hindi.

How to translate Reels
To try it out, you just need to toggle the Translate button while posting a Reel. This will help your content reach audiences across multiple languages.
Previously, Meta announced that the translation feature is free and is accessible to Facebook creators with at least 1,000 followers and all public Instagram accounts in countries where Meta AI is available.
Meta AI uses advanced voice-mimicking technology to translate the Reels while preserving the creator's original tone and style. This means the translated version still sounds like the creator - just in a different language. Moreover, every translated reel is labelled with 'Translated with Meta AI', so you'll get to know when you're watching translated content. One can also turn translations on or off, or choose to watch Reels in their original language by selecting "Don't translate" under the audio and language section in the three-dot settings menu.
New Indian Fonts on Edits
Additionally, creators can now style their text and captions with Devanagari and Bengali-Assamese scripts in languages such as Hindi, Marathi, Bengali and Assamese. This update will be roll out on Android in the coming days.
