Instagram, the Meta-owned social media platform, has announced Instagram for TV, allowing users to watch Reels on the big screen. The feature is currently in the testing phase, and the app is available in the US on Amazon Fire TV devices.

• First, you have to install the Instagram app on your Fire TV and sign in with your account to get started. You can also access it directly via the Settings bookmark in the Instagram mobile app.
• The app supports up to five accounts, allowing everyone at your home to enjoy a personalized Reels experience. If you want, you can even set up a separate account just for Instagram on TV.
• Once you log in, Reels are organized into channels based on your interest, including new music, sports highlights, hidden travel gems, trending moments, and more.

Moreover, search lets you easily find your favorite creators, browse Reels-focused profiles, and discover content around your interests. Instagram is also planning to roll out new features in the coming days, which may include using the phone as a remote, a more intuitive channel-surfing experience and shared feeds with friends.

Safety and Controls

Instagram for TV is designed for shared viewing, and the app follows content standards suitable for a broad audience. Even the company says ''In this test, Reels generally follow the PG-13 rating system we recently introduced on mobile. These guidelines shape what may appear on TV.''

For teens, Instagram for TV has the same safeguards available on the mobile app. This includes limiting access to content, comments and profiles that may be unsuitable for people under 18. Time spent on Instagram for TV also contributes to a teen account's overall usage limits, and teens may get the same reminders for reaching those limits, including sleep mode alerts.
