Google Duo could soon receive a native Portrait Mode
A teardown of the latest version Google Duo(v32) has made a revelation that Google could be working towards so-called "Drishti" effect.
Earlier this week Instagram rolled out 'Focus' which is the company's take on the so-called bokeh shots or the portrait mode. Now as per some sources on the web, Google Duo could join the same bandwagon and introduce its own native portrait mode.
The report further mentions that a teardown of the latest version Google Duo(v32) has made a revelation that Google could be working towards so-called "Drishti" effect. The 'Drishti' is a Sanskrit name for vision along with a new bokeh effect. However, the new feature is said to maintain focus on the subject while making or receiving a video call meanwhile blurring the background.
The strings of code which is discovered in the latest Google Duo APK suggests that a dedicated tab for the mode has been added to the video controls layout, however, the feature is yet to go live. As the new tab has already been added to the application we can expect the native portrait mode might be available for the Google Duo app in the coming days.
Further, the report also points that the latest version of Google Duo comes along with a new feature that is said to allow the users to export their call history. Further, at the moment there is not any new UI in the app that facilitates this new feature and the users will need to send a command via ADB in order to launch it. The teardown further revealed that Google seems to be working towards a rotational support for video calling on Duo, which is said to be quite handy as at the moment the service locks to portrait mode during a video call.
Also, in one of our earlier articles related to Google we covered that Google is releasing a new updated version of Google Duo which is the video chat mobile app developed the tech giant. Google Duo's new version which is the version 31 will allow a user to add their Google account during setup instead of providing the phone number. Also for the latest Google Duo version 31, there will be no phone number required to register this directly points out that the app could be available to other devices as well.
