Microsoft to enable call recording feature on Skype desktop app
The upcoming call recording feature in Skype will support integration from third-party apps including Xsplit, Wirecast and Vmix.
Microsoft Skype, one of the most widely used internet calling app is finally getting the much-awaited call recording feature. Microsoft is not going to code the new feature in the app but will make use of third-party apps like Xsplit, Wirecast, and Vmix. These third-party apps were already available to provide call recording support but with the new update, the process will get more streamlined.
With the new update, Skype will now get more useful for content creators. As per Microsoft, the Content Creators mode in the Skype will provide clean feeds for each group participant. Once the call is made and the video is recorded, it can be imported into other third-party editing apps for final touch up. The feature will come quite handy for podcasters and streamers who use Skype for work.
As per a Skype blog, "Windows 10 and Mac users will be able to record calls if they switch their desktop Skype client over to the "Content Creator" mode to place, record, import and edit recordings using apps like Adobe Premier Pro and Adobe Audition".
Moreover, users will also be given the choice to pick third-party software they prefer to use and Skype will support the integration. As per IANS report, Skype will also allow live-streaming a call on your YouTube channel or twitch stream allowing the users to customize the look and feel of the call.
The Skype blog post also mentioned that users can customize the look and feel of the call so they can be part of a live show ready for streaming to audiences of all sizes.
Skype is going to debut the new recording integration feature next week at the NAB show in Las Vegas. An official release is slated for summers. Stay tuned on Gizbot for more news on Skype.
