Periscope iOS app updated with Mute Notification and Handsoff support
The popular broadcasting app, Periscope have recently received an update for the iOS app. This new update comes with a few added features which will soon be included in the Android app once an update is released in the PlayStore. It now allows user to manually control their notifications. In case you are following a user's feed but don't want to be disturbed the whole day whenever a new broadcast is uploaded by the user, then you can simply click a mute button on the profile of the user whose notification you want to block. This new addition will provide true granular control to a user's notifications.
Periscope quoted in their official blog,"Push notifications are powerful communication channel, but they also have the potential of creating a frustrating degree of noise for users. We think it's important to respect this power, and give users granular control over the notifications they receive while still providing the flexibility of seeing more content on Periscope"

The new mute feature is mainly helpful to mute those users who keep on posting too often on Periscope - I really hope this feature was available for those irritating WhatsApp group messages that keep disturbing during work hours. Nevertheless the broadcasts will still appear in your feed, so no need to worry. The company said that the mute notification option is coming to the Android app pretty soon. In addition, users can now change language preference from their profile setting. Moving on the update includes the ability to view your viewer stats for past broadcasts.
The update also adds a much needed Handsoff support that allows users to watch the same content by easily switching between devices. But there is a con -you will always need to ensure that both the devices are running iOS 8+ or OS X with Bluetooth turned on. Plus you need to be logged in to the same iOS account.
