Snapchat Lens studio allows you to create your own AR face lens
Snapchat will now allow its users to create their own custom AR Face Lenses with the recently updated Snapchat Lens Studio.
Snapchat has some good news in store for its users. The multimedia messaging app will now allow its users to create their own custom AR Face Lenses with the recently updated Snapchat Lens Studio. The Lens Studio tool that previously allowed its users to create World Lenses or AR effects applied to the environment will now also allow the users to create custom Face Lenses for purely personalized selfies.
The interested users can now create their own Face Lenses, by first submitting their design to Snapchat for approval. Once Snapchat has approved the design, the users will be able to use their custom Face Lens. The approved Lenses will also be available for the other Snapchat users also, as it was reported previously.
To help users with designing their own lenses, Snapchat has also introduced some AR templates, which are mentioned below:
1. Face Paint: This template focuses in the face substitution, along with mapping a face in order to create art connected with facial features/structures which includes eyes, nose, mouth etc; it is perfect for those Lenses that show off makeup, costumes and accessories etc.
2. Photo template: The Photo template is somewhat similar to the Face Paint; it only needs the creator to have a single, head-on photo of their face creation. By importing that image into the Lens Studio along with 'Detect Face' function will align the image to a face lens.
3. Distort: This template will allow a user to give their friends and self a wacky look. It allows a user to stretch a face in all direction, make their eyes bulge and more with no new assets required.
4. Trigger: This template allows a user to create experiences based on facial movements like blinking, raising eyebrows, opening and closing mouth and also smile.
5. 2D objects: A user can attach 2D images to their head using this template. Users can also apply sprites to build Lenses similar to the famous dog-eared Lens.
6. 3D objects: This template allows a user to attach 3D objects to a single face or multiple faces. In the case of multiple faces, the 3D objects for each face could be same or different. Also, this template includes a helper script to play looping animation on 3D objects.
7. Baseball cap: This template allows a user to make simple adjustments to the 3D baseball cap to change the colour or brim style or add a single image in seconds.
Along with the above-mentioned features, the Lens studio is also integrated with GIPHY which will allow a user to include animated stickers to their World and Face Lenses.
