Spotify music streaming service finally coming to India
The wait is over.
Spotify, the world-renowned music streaming service is finally making its way to the Indian market. The company made the announcement in New York at the Investor Day event. The company wants to expand its services beyond Us and Europe.
Workforce
Daniel Ek, CEO, and co-founder, Spotify said, "We are working on launching in some of the biggest markets in the world, including India, Russia, and Africa which has a very rich musical culture."
The company has already confirmed the existence of an office in India. Spotify also stated that it has around 308 employees in India and 20 other nations including Singapore, Brazil, Australia, Spain, and Belgium. The company is planning to go live on April 3.
Cracked version
There are a lot of users that make use of the modified version of the app to use the streaming service. The company has been closely tracking these users and has sent out emails to a significant number of people warning them of the consequences of trying the modified version of the app.
Although the company is yet to suspend such accounts, it wants these users to remove the unauthorized version of the app and download it directly from the Play Store.
The competition
Spotify will face tough competition from Apple Music, Google Play music, Gaana, Saavn and Wynk in India. E-commerce giant Amazon has also launched its Prime Music service for the Indian consumers. The Amazon Prime Music service was introduced to the Indian consumer base back in 2017, however, the service was available exclusively for the Amazon Echo device users. The music service is also available on the web and a user can access it on the web by visiting music.amazon.in. The Amazon Prime music service is free for the Amazon Prime members and the service is ad-free.
The Amazon Prime music service weighs 17.10 MB and allows a user to select music in different languages. The music service caters wide genre of music including English, Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Rajasthani, Gujarati and Marathi. It offers offline music downloads and Alexa voice support that enables a user to search his choice of song by simply giving a voice command.
