Truecaller is pushing its customer towards subscription, limits caller ID searches
Truecaller is sending a notification to users stating that they have only limited number of caller ID searches remaining
Truecaller app is well known for its functionality that allows a user to identify unknown callers. Apart from identifying the unknown numbers, the app is also used to tackle spam calls. However, Truecaller is now working on limiting the Caller ID search feature. The company is planning on taking such measure because it wants to encourage the users to go for a paid subscription for unlimited caller searches.
It is being reported that some users have recently received a notification from the company. The notification is telling the users that they have only limited number of caller identifications remaining. And it is also being that said this message is not a hoax. Truecaller has acknowledged the reports and has commented that it is conducting an experiment with the most active users. Following the experiment, a user will get only 100 limited Caller ID searches per month.
Further, the notification will not be affecting the ID for dialled numbers and also the app's contact search capabilities. So the users need not worry regarding the same. Truecaller commented on the matter on its support page saying:
As Truecaller is committed to making your communication as efficient and safe as possible, we need to look at means to continue providing our service to our users. We want to ask the users who derive the most benefit from our services to consider upgrading to a Pro subscription" he further added.
It might surprise many of the users to know that Truecaller also has a paid 'Pro' subscription. The Pro subscription gives a user the ability to connect with the people they search by name and also get an ad-free platform to use.
The step taken by Truecaller should generate more revenue for Truecaller and get more revenue for those users who use the application regularly. The Pro subscription doesn't come with a hefty price tag so users can make use of their service at a low price. The Pro subscription is priced at Rs 30 for a month and Rs 270 for a year. Also, the users will get up to 30 contact requests every month along with an option wherein they can see who has viewed their profile.
