WhatsApp Business for iOS reportedly in works
WhatsApp is reportedly working on the iOS version of its Business app.
WhatsApp is rolling out many new features for its users. The app will soon be supporting features like group video calling and third-party stickers. Now new reports suggest that WhatsApp Business app for iOS is under development.
The app was launched in January for small businesses, but only for Android users. Company's latest Android beta version suggests that it has registered a new domain dubbed wa.me. It is a short link for api.whatsapp.com.
According to WEBetaInfo, WhatsApp has already started working on the iOS Business app. It is said to be in its testing phase and would take some more time before it's ready. The app is also said to be working on a feature that sends an automatic message to new customers, or after 14 days of no activity.
Since many features are yet to be crammed in the iOS Bussiness app, it's likely that it won't release until it has all the features that its Android equivalent has.
Besides, WhatsApp has also started rolling out a new update for iOS users. The new update brings support for Instagram and Facebook videos in-app. The app already had support for YouTube, but now has added functionality.
Earlier, users had to open respective apps in order to watch the videos. With the latest update, WhatsApp mentions that in-app video playback will be supported for Instagram and Facebook. As of now, the feature isn't working but will be ready in the coming weeks.
The update also brings the PiP (picture in picture mode) which allows users to navigate through the app while the video plays in a small window. Users will also be able to move the window, play/pause, close or expand the video. Mark Zuckerberg at the F8 conference, announced that the popular messaging app will be getting a group calling feature. The feature will allow four people to video call at once.
At F8 Developer's conference, Mark Zuckerberg also announced that WhatsApp Status, the Snapchat-inspired feature has reached 450 million daily active users. This is well over two times the whole user base of Snapchat. Additionally, the app is also getting a group video calling feature. While WhatsApp continues to grow at a rapid pace, Snapchat saw its slowest user growth rate ever. Snapchat failed to grab the market share globally, resulting in WhatsApp climbing on top of the ladder.
