Playstation 3 gets a native Youtube app

The Playstation 3 will have an official YouTube app now which should make watching videos on the console a much less painful experience.

Till now users were accessing the YouTube platform through the PS3 browser, however it lacked some key features. But now, the app will offer the users an improved instant search and with signing in to user's YouTube account the app will pull in thier subscribed channels.

At the same time, Youtube app for Playstation 3 has come with a lot of added capabilities. The app has got an improved search feature which will list suggestions as soon as the query is entered. Users can also sign in to their Youtube account which will allow the app to pull in videos from the subscribed channels.

Another important feature of this new app is that you will be able to pair your iOS or Android device with the Playstation and use the device as a remote control for operating Youtube instead of using the PS3 Controller as mouse. This will also allow users to find a video using the phone and seamlessly play it on the Television.

The app is free to download from the Playstation store. Sadly the app is currently available for download in the region of North America only. However, the app will be released globally later this year. For users from North America, they can find the app listed under My Channels in the Playstation store. There is an alternative app called Crackle which functions in similar fashion to the Youtube app for Playstation 3.The Crackle app is available for Canadian users only.
