WhatsApp Reportedly Rolling Out A Profile Shortcut to Open Settings: Here’s a First Look
WhatsApp is reportedly rolling out a new feature that adds a settings tab to the interface. This feature is available to some beta testers at this moment and expected to go official for everyone in the coming days.
WhatsApp Rolling Out New Settings Tab
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is giving users easy access to the settings page, making the shortcut more visible. The instant messaging app is rolling out a feature that adds a settings tab to the interface. As per the shared screenshot, you can access WhatsApp settings through one of two new entry points.

The first entry point is located in the top app bar, where a profile icon is displayed and the shortcut opens the app settings. With this shortcut, one can access the settings page and their profile without having to select the option from the overflow menu. The second entry point is located in the bottom navigation bar as a tab named "You", which also opens the Settings page, similar to the shortcut in the top app bar.
With this new update, the bottom navigation bar now features five tabs. To fit all of them without causing label overlap, each tab has been resized, and WhatsApp has also adjusted the font size of the tab labels.

The report further stated that WhatsApp is experimenting with these two entry points with different users. Some users will see the settings shortcut directly in the top app bar, while a few will see a fifth tab in the bottom navigation bar to access the settings screen.
Moreover, this update is said to be a redesigned part of the settings interface, adding a cover photo at the top of the screen. As noted, the new feature that adds a settings tab to the interface is available to some beta testers on Android, with a wider rollout expected in the coming days.
