WhatsApp Will Soon Let You Create Custom Lists for Status Updates: Here’s How It Will Work
WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to create custom lists for status updates. The feature is currently under development and is expected to be available in a future update. Here's how this feature will work:
WhatsApp Custom Lists for Status Updates in the Works
According to WABetaInfo's latest report, WhatsApp will soon introduce a feature called Custom Lists for status updates. It will allow users to create custom audiences for their status updates.
Currently, users can choose who sees their status updates using three options: My Contacts, My Contacts Except, and Only Share With. However, the upcoming feature will be helpful for users who want to share different status updates with different audiences.
With this, you will be able to create multiple lists to suit different needs. For example, one could create one list for family, another for colleagues, and others for friend groups.
Each list will include a name and a selected set of contacts. Users will also be able to set an emoji for each list, making it easier to quickly identify them. Users will have full control over their personalized lists and can update the name, emoji, or contacts at any time.
It is also worth noting that if a user shares a status update with a list and later removes a contact from it, that contact will still be able to see the previously shared update but will not see any future updates shared with that list.
As noted, the exact timeline for the rollout of this feature has not been revealed yet. In addition, WhatsApp is also said to be working on a feature that will allow you to share status updates with close friends, which is currently under development.
