YouTube is rolling out "Reimagine," a new tool that allows users to transform a single frame from an existing Short into an entirely new 8-second clip. Powered by Veo, Reimagine lets users modify eligible Shorts by adding themselves or objects to the original frame. You can upload up to two references from the photo gallery and either write your own prompts or rely on suggestions generated by Gemini. Then Reimagine will create a high-quality video with audio.

The Reimagine option will appear under the Remix tool on eligible Shorts. Users can access it directly from the video interface to start creating AI-generated clips based on existing content. However, every Reimagined Short automatically links back to the original video, ensuring the original creator receives credit while also helping their content reach a wider audience.

How to Use the Reimagine Tool on YouTube Shorts

• Open YouTube Shorts and select a Short that supports the Reimagine feature.
• Tap the Remix option and choose Reimagine.
• Upload up to two reference images from your phone's gallery
• Select a suggested prompt from Gemini or write a custom prompt describing the scene.
• Then it will generate a new 8-second video clip with audio.
