Arattai to Make Chats as Secure as WhatsApp: Full End-to-End Encryption Coming Soon, Says CEO

The Arattai app is gaining significant traction, becoming one of the most downloaded apps on both the App Store and Google Play Store within weeks. Zoho, the company behind Arattai, plans to introduce new features, including end-to-end encryption (E2E), to enhance user experience and security.

Zoho CEO Mani Vembu discussed the company's future plans for Arattai with India Today Tech. He confirmed that E2E encryption is actively being developed and will be released soon. "We already support encryption for calls and videos," Vembu stated. "Even in messages, we have something called Secret Chat where it is supported, but that is not the default. Now we are actually working on end-to-end encryption, and most probably we will have an announcement on it soon. That's our highest priority right now."

Focus on Privacy and Security

Zoho places a strong emphasis on user privacy and data protection with Arattai. Vembu assured that the platform will never use ads or user data for monetisation purposes. The upcoming E2E encryption feature will ensure that only the sender and receiver can access messages, making interception nearly impossible, even for Zoho.

In addition to enhancing security, Zoho aims to transform Arattai into a versatile platform. The company is exploring ways to allow third-party apps and services to integrate within its ecosystem. "We are looking at how to open this platform for others - to build apps that are useful for consumers. That's another direction we are exploring because it's going to be a differentiator for us," Vembu explained.

Explosive Growth in India

The app has experienced remarkable growth in India recently. Before its viral surge, Arattai saw approximately 3,500 sign-ups daily. However, this number soared to 350,000 in just one day last week and surpassed one million on another day.

As Zoho continues to develop new features and expand its platform capabilities, Arattai's popularity is expected to grow further. With a focus on privacy and innovation, the app aims to offer users a secure and versatile communication experience.
