Amazon Introduces Lens Live To Enhance AI-Driven Shopping Experiences With Real-Time Visual Search
Amazon is enhancing its AI-driven shopping experiences with the introduction of Lens Live. This new feature, launched on Tuesday, upgrades the existing Amazon Lens by incorporating real-time visual search capabilities. Users can now point their phones at objects in the real world to find matching products displayed in a carousel at the screen's bottom.
Lens Live integrates with Amazon's AI shopping assistant, Rufus, offering product insights and summaries. It complements Amazon Lens, which allows users to discover products by taking pictures or scanning barcodes. The feature is powered by Amazon SageMaker services and runs on AWS-managed Amazon OpenSearch.

AI-Powered Shopping Enhancements
Amazon has been leveraging AI to improve online shopping experiences. Over the past year, it introduced features like AI-powered shopping guides, AI-enhanced product reviews, and tools for finding clothes that fit. These innovations aim to provide personalized shopping prompts and assist merchants.
The Lens Live feature capitalizes on customers' existing habits of comparison shopping in retail stores. By using this tool, shoppers can check if Amazon offers better deals on similar items they encounter in physical stores.
Interactive Shopping Experience
With Lens Live, users can tap on any item within their camera view to focus on that product. If they find a desirable match, they can add it to their cart or save it to their wish list using intuitive icons. This interactive experience aims to streamline the shopping process.
The integration of Rufus allows customers to access AI-generated product summaries and suggested questions for further exploration. This enables quick research and informed decision-making before purchasing.
The Lens Live feature is initially available on the Amazon Shopping app for iOS users in the U.S., targeting "tens of millions" of shoppers. While there's no confirmation about expanding to other global markets yet, this launch marks a significant step in enhancing user engagement through AI technology.
