ChatGPT Go Rs. 399 Plan in India: Here's What you Need to Know About OpenAI's Low-cost Subscription Plan
OpenAI has introduced a new subscription plan named ChatGPT Go, specifically for Indian users. Priced at Rs 399 monthly, this plan is one of the company's most budget-friendly options. It aims to make popular ChatGPT features more accessible at a lower cost.
The Go plan offers all features available in the free tier, along with extended access to GPT-5, OpenAI's flagship model. Subscribers benefit from higher message limits, increased daily image generations, and additional file uploads. The plan also enhances advanced data analysis tools like Python and doubles the memory available compared to free accounts, allowing for longer context retention in conversations.

Payment Options and Availability
OpenAI has enabled local payment methods for the Go tier. Users can pay using credit cards or UPI in Indian rupees. This follows the company's earlier shift to INR-based billing for subscriptions in India. Subscriptions are billed monthly, and users have the flexibility to cancel anytime.
ChatGPT Go is being gradually rolled out across India. Users can check eligibility by logging into their ChatGPT account, selecting the profile icon, and navigating to "Upgrade Plan." Once available, they can choose "Try Go" to subscribe.
Platform Access and Features
Subscribers will be able to use Go features across platforms, including the ChatGPT mobile apps and through 1-800-ChatGPT on WhatsApp. However, API usage remains outside this subscription and will be billed separately.
The launch of ChatGPT Go follows OpenAI's recent revision of its existing plans' pricing in India. The Plus plan now costs Rs 1,999 per month while Pro is priced at Rs 19,900 monthly. In contrast, the Go plan serves as an affordable entry point for individuals seeking more access to AI tools without committing to higher-priced tiers.
Focus on Core Usage
OpenAI has confirmed that Go will not include connectors, legacy models, or Sora video creation tools. Instead, it focuses on providing extended access to GPT-5 and multimodal features at a budget-friendly rate. The company plans to study feedback from Indian users before considering expansion of the Go plan to other markets.
This new offering targets users desiring more flexibility without incurring the higher charges associated with Plus or Pro plans. While Plus unlocks legacy models like GPT-4o and offers tools such as deep research and connectors, the Go tier emphasizes core usage and affordability.
The introduction of ChatGPT Go aligns with OpenAI's strategy to broaden its user base by offering diverse pricing options tailored to different needs. By making AI technology more accessible through affordable plans like ChatGPT Go, OpenAI continues its commitment to expanding AI accessibility globally.
