ChatGPT Go’s ₹399 Plan Is Free for a Year in India Starting November 4 — Here’s How to Get It
If you’ve been curious about ChatGPT’s paid plans but didn’t want to spend money, this might be your cue. Starting November 4, OpenAI is making its ChatGPT Go plan completely free for one year in India. The company announced the offer just ahead of its first DevDay Exchange event in Bengaluru.

Normally priced at ₹399 a month, ChatGPT Go sits right between the free and Plus tiers. It gives you higher usage limits, image generation, and access to GPT-5 — though not the full deep-research toolkit you’d get with the Pro plan.
Nick Turley, OpenAI’s VP and head of ChatGPT, said the idea is to make AI more accessible. “We’re making ChatGPT Go freely available for a year to help more people across India easily access and benefit from advanced AI,” he said (via).
How To Get It
Getting this deal is pretty straightforward. Starting November 4, you just need to sign up for ChatGPT Go through the ChatGPT website or mobile app. Here’s what you do:
- Open ChatGPT on your browser or app.
- Log in or create an OpenAI account.
- Select the ChatGPT Go plan (it’ll normally show ₹399/month).
And if you’re already subscribed? Good news. OpenAI says current Go users will automatically get a 12-month extension for free. The company hasn’t said when the promotion will end, so if you’re planning to try it, it’s best not to wait too long.
Why It’s Worth Signing Up
ChatGPT Go gives you about ten times the usage of the free version. You can upload files, generate images, and get more personalized answers thanks to improved memory features. For most people, it’s the sweet spot — plenty of features, zero cost (for now).
This offer also lines up with OpenAI’s DevDay Exchange event in Bengaluru, where the company is expected to announce more India-focused updates. It’s a clear sign that OpenAI wants to cement its role in the country’s fast-growing AI ecosystem — and get as many people as possible using GPT-5.
