Elon Musk's Grok 4.1 is Now More Creative and Emotionally Intelligent: Global Rollout Begins Today

Grok 4.1 is now available to all users across grok.com, 𝕏, and the iOS and Android apps. It's now rolling out in Auto mode, and users can also select "Grok 4.1" manually from the model picker.

The new version excels in creative, emotional, and collaborative exchanges. It is more attuned to subtle intentions, engaging to converse with, and consistent in character while maintaining the sharp intelligence and reliability of earlier versions.

Enhanced Model Capabilities

To enhance these attributes, Grok 4.1 utilised the same large-scale reinforcement learning infrastructure as its predecessor. This was applied to refine the model's style, personality, helpfulness, and alignment. New methods were developed to optimise non-verifiable reward signals using frontier agentic reasoning models as reward models for autonomous evaluation and iteration at scale.

The company stated: "We conducted a gradual silent rollout of preliminary Grok 4.1 builds to a progressively larger share of production traffic across grok.com, X, and mobile apps. During the two-week silent rollout we ran continuous blind pairwise evaluations on live traffic."

Evaluation Metrics

To assess progress in personality and interpersonal skills, Grok 4.1 was evaluated using EQ-Bench3. This test measures active emotional intelligence abilities such as understanding, insight, empathy, and interpersonal skills through LLM-judged assessments.

The performance of Grok 4.1 was also tested on the Creative Writing v3 benchmark. In this assessment, models generate responses to 32 different writing prompts over three iterations.

Users can expect improved interactions with Grok 4.1 due to its enhanced perceptiveness and coherence in communication while retaining its foundational strengths.
