Google Introduces Gemini Intelligence for Android With AI-Powered Chrome and Gboard Features

Google is bringing a new AI layer called Gemini Intelligence to Android, promising deeper help across phones, wearables, cars and laptops. The system is built to handle multi-step tasks, use what is on your screen as context, and then show progress while actions quietly run in the background.

Gemini Intelligence first appears on the Galaxy S26 series and Pixel 10 family "this summer". Google confirms these tools "will become available across your Android devices including your watch, car, glasses and laptops later this year". Users will see live notifications as tasks unfold, and will approve actions before they complete.

Gemini Intelligence Features for Chrome

From late June, Chrome on Android will rely on Gemini Intelligence to help people research pages, summarise long articles and compare information across sites. A tool called Auto Browse will let Gemini handle repetitive tasks, such as booking appointments or securing a parking slot, carrying out steps that usually need several taps.

Gemini Intelligence will also power Autofill with Google, drawing on what Google calls Personal Intelligence. This should automatically complete more online forms and app fields, and handle "even more of those tiny text fields across your apps, including Chrome". Connecting Gemini to Autofill with Google is optional, so users must choose to turn this on.

Gemini Intelligence Upgrades for Gboard, Speech and Language

On the keyboard side, Gboard gains a feature named Rambler, built on Gemini Intelligence. Rambler allows people to speak naturally, including pauses and hesitations such as "ums" and "ahs" and "likes", and then will 'translate' that messy speech into polished text while preserving the original meaning.

Rambler is also designed for people who blend languages in daily speech. It can recognise multiple languages within a single sentence and still produce one clear written version. The feature will clearly show when it is active, so users know when spoken words are being converted into text.

Gemini Intelligence Widgets & Design

Gemini Intelligence supports Create My Widget, letting Android and Wear OS users design custom widgets by typing a short prompt. This aims to make personalised glanceable views, such as quick fitness stats or travel updates, without complex setup screens or separate configuration menus on each device.

Google is also rolling out "an updated design language" for Gemini Intelligence across supported products. The company claims this look is "not only beautiful but functional, animating with purpose to reduce distractions and allow you to focus on the task at hand", as Gemini actions run across Android phones and other linked devices.
